Feeding Brevard’s Most Vulnerable Children

Brevard County teachers recognize which kids lack weekend nutrition. You can help ensure that kids have food on weekends. Your donation can provide a child with the nourishment they need to thrive, not just survive.

Each week on Friday, The Children's Hunger Project helps as many elementary school children as possible to carry food home for the weekend in their backpack.

Our goal is to help students thrive so they can be ready to learn when returning to school Monday morning. Click here to see more videos.

Over 60% Of Brevard Students are on the Free or Reduced Lunch Program
Brevard County Schools provide a free breakfast and lunch during the week. For some students, Friday lunch is their last regular meal until the following Monday. The Children’s Hunger Project provides weekend meals to ensure children are not coming to school hungry. On the front lines of caring for our children during the week, teachers and school administrators are acutely aware of the weekend hunger crisis. When the teachers say their goodbyes on Fridays, they know which pupils will not have enough nutrition over the weekend, and which kids will be ill-prepared to learn on Monday morning.
