Good News!

We join United Way's Read and Feed efforts this summer

UW READ AND FEED

During the summer of 2017 The Children's Hunger Project will once again be participating in the United Way of Brevard's Read and Feed program

This program is designed to combat the "summer slide" where students might not read as much during the summer months.  When they return to school in the fall some students have a significant decrease in their reading skills.

Read and Feed students receive a new book and a food package each week.  Often times these new books are the only brand new book in the house.  The food and books are given to the students through the community centers and other programs throughout the county.

During United Way's Read and Feed program, we continue to pack food at our warehouse every Thursday evening, and still need volunteers.

Read and Feed serves about 1600 students each week, and we are serving more food each week through the program than during the normal school year.

The Children's Hunger Project appreciates the support of the United Way and Project Hunger for coordinating the Read and Feed program throughout Brevard County. To learn more about United Way's efforts to keep kids reading (and fed) this summer, click here.
