The Health First Fight Child Hunger 5K will be held on on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Viera High School.

Did you know that 62% of teachers know of at least one child that is coming to school hungry?  We need to fix this.  And we CAN fix this!  Please help by joining us for the Health First Fight Child Hunger 5K, a joint fundraiser for The Children’s Hunger Project and Sharing Center of Central Brevard.

Mara Bellaby, Executive Editor of Florida Today, will serve as this event’s honorary chair. We invite you to help us stomp out childhood hunger by joining us at this exciting event.

For your tax-deductible donation, you can join the Race to End Childhood Hunger along with other local businesses, individuals and congregations committed to helping hungry children in our community.  100% of proceeds from this event will go to feed hungry children in Brevard!

Please join the Race to End Childhood Hunger as a “Best of Brevard” sponsor today!

Highlights from this year’s Health First Fight Child Hunger 5K Run/Walk January 2019

The Health First Fight Child Hunger 5K Run/Walk 2019 had a record number of participants, vendors, and supporters! Many thanks to the wonderful sponsors for this event. Thanks to ongoing support, we have served Brevard County children with weekend packages of food without missing a single week since 2010. To continue serving and help those still on the wait list for weekend food fuels our passion and compassion to work on behalf of hungry kids in Brevard.

With 500 participants this year at the Health First Fight Child Hunger 5K, everyone enjoyed a pancake breakfast and band, with a food packing event prior to race start. Cheering and encouraging the participants were Viera Charter School cheerleaders!

This event helped raise awareness of the efforts to fight childhood hunger by Health First, The Children’s Hunger Project and the Sharing Center of Central Brevard.

Bob Gabordi of Florida Today and his daughter Jessica were honorary co-chairs for the event.  Said Bob, “Children have always been my passion, and hungry children and hungry people in Brevard County just feel so totally unacceptable to me.”

A team of volunteers stepped up to make sure this 5K ran smoothly, from pre-race packing to pancake breakfast, to awards and parking!

It takes a village to help make life better for hungry kids in Brevard. The Children’s Hunger Project and Sharing Center of Central Brevard are especially grateful to those sponsors, volunteers and media supporters who ensured that fewer kids in Brevard County will go without food.
