This summer the Feed & Read Program, a partnership of United Way of Brevard and The Children’s Hunger Project, gave kids a chance to start the new school year off right! 1,000 kids received weekly meal packs and books to ensure they had nutritious food to eat and a way to keep up their reading skills over the summer. The program delivered a total of 8,720 meal packs and 7,760 books to area students. Your support helps us keep vital programs like this working in our community.

School is out and while many look forward to summer, it can be a difficult time for families in our community, particularly those facing financial hardship. Many parents depend on free or reduced-price meals during the school year to help feed their children and with food costs skyrocketing, low-income children are at high risk of going hungry.
Students are also missing out on the educational opportunities that come with being in a structured environment. Studies show that children can lose one to three months of learning over the summer. It’s called the “Summer Slide” and it’s what happens when young minds sit idle over the summer.
That’s where Summer Feed & Read comes in.
Our program is a collaboration of United Way of Brevard and The Children’s Hunger Project. Feed and Read provides meal packs and engaging books to children in need, helping to ensure that they have the food and intellectual stimulation they need to thrive.
But we can’t do it without your help.
As a member of our community, you know firsthand the impact that our work can have on individuals and families. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children who need it the most.
Your donation will go directly to providing meals and educational resources to children in need right here in Brevard. Every dollar counts, and we are grateful for any amount you can give.
Thank you for considering a donation to the Summer Feed & Read program. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of children who deserve a brighter future.
Sincerely,
