Volunteer of the Month: Bev Larsen
At The Children’s Hunger Project, we are blessed to have volunteers whose passion and dedication help make our mission possible. This month, we are proud to recognize Bev Larsen as our Volunteer of the Month!
Bev began volunteering with The Children’s Hunger Project in August 2023 and has become an invaluable member of our volunteer family. Whether she is assisting in the office, delivering food packages to local schools, or helping our Operations Manager, Jewel, with warehouse duties, Bev is always willing to lend a hand wherever help is needed.
Bev first came to us through Rockledge Presbyterian Church in Rockledge, FL and quickly became instrumental in developing the partnership between the church and The Children’s Hunger Project. Thanks in large part to Bev’s efforts, Rockledge Presbyterian Church has become a dedicated community partner and currently sponsors a local school. She also helps organize packing events at the church throughout the year, bringing together members of the congregation to support children facing food insecurity in Brevard County.
We are incredibly grateful for the initiative and commitment that Bev and Rockledge Presbyterian Church have shown over the past two years. Their partnership has helped provide thousands of weekend food packages to local children in need.
When asked why she volunteers with The Children’s Hunger Project, Bev shared:
“I’ve always loved the backpack story of TCHP, and once I retired from full-time employment, I knew this was where I wanted to volunteer.”
When sharing TCHP’s mission with others, Bev says her favorite thing to share is our faith, our love for the children of Brevard County, and our commitment to helping feed those in need.
“Everyone I work with is extremely generous with their time, talents, and energy and goes above and beyond to ensure that our community’s children are fed.”
From the perspective of our staff, Bev stands out because of her unwavering commitment and willingness to help with any task that needs to be done. She never hesitates to step in, always brings a positive attitude, and consistently goes above and beyond to support our mission.
Volunteers like Bev remind us that it truly takes a village to fight childhood hunger. Her compassion, dedication, and servant’s heart make a lasting difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.
Thank you, Bev, for everything you do to help keep children in Brevard County fed, cared for, and supported. We are grateful for your service and honored to have you as part of The Children’s Hunger Project family.
