The Children’s Hunger Project’s new home has received so much support from the community. We were awed by the number of visitors and well-wishers for the Open House and Ribbon Cutting at 26 Forrest Ave. in Cocoa Village. Some comments from attendees:
What an absolutely amazing day! Today we celebrated all the hard work of so many organizations and individuals that culminated into the grand opening of the new Shah Center to End Childhood Hunger for The Children’s Hunger Project! Feeding kids is what we do, and it takes a village! So proud of all of those that helped make this come together!!! – Dave Dischler, TCHP Board Member
What an exciting grand opening celebration at The Shah Center to End Childhood Hunger, the new home of TCHP! When they say it takes a village – this organization has a village of supporters! From friends and family to business owners and community leaders involvement the mission to end childhood hunger continues. The motto – We see a hungry kid we feed them! I love it! You’ll be able to read the entire story in our September magazine EverythingBrevard.com! I can’t wait! If you’re not already involved – you’ll want to be! – Tracy Stroderd
As we start a new chapter of continuing to support the youth in our community, we celebrated the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for The Shah Center to End Childhood Hunger this month. The move increases the number of children that can be served to continue to meet the goals of our mission in Brevard County, Florida. Many thanks to the Shah family of Southeast Petro for their generous contribution toward our forever home!
OUTDOOR BEAUTIFICATION
This project took time to complete, and when it was done, volunteers came to beautify the outside before the Open House. Many thanks to all our Beautification volunteers. The Grove Church led by Brad and Barry Russell, organized the beautification project and they paid for the majority of the trees to be trimmed and the river rocks for the beds. Glenda Parker organized the effort, and Shelly Russell did the plant layout. Here’s a little video created by our Battle Bros. helpers.

With so many individuals responding to the invitation, and limited parking on our property, we sought the help of our new neighbors for parking assistance. We went out and met our neighbors and asked them to let us use their parking lots. Many thanks to Knights of Columbus Council #6125! These volunteers stood out on the streets of 520 in Cocoa Village, directing the hundreds that needed parking assistance. We used parking lots from our neighbors at the Cocoa Elks, Past Gas, Curt Myers State Farm, Village Plaza as well as the public lots…it was a huge task and these volunteers did an amazing job!
We would also like to thank our Brevard Chambers of Commerce for attending and supporting, and to Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce for officiating the ribbon cutting ceremony.
