The Story Began 15 Years Ago. The Impact Continues Today.
As another school year begins, we’ve been reflecting on where this journey started.
In August 2011, The Children’s Hunger Project packed weekend food for just 27 children at Riviera Elementary School. At the time, no one could have imagined what that small beginning would grow into.
What started in one school has become a community-wide mission. Because of the generosity of our donors, volunteers, schools, businesses, churches, and community partners, we’re now providing weekend food to nearly 5,000 children each week in more than 60 schools across Brevard County.
Every backpack we pack represents so much more than food. It represents hope. It means a child can head home on Friday knowing they’ll have something to eat over the weekend. It means parents and caregivers have one less worry. And it means our community has chosen to stand together so no child has to face hunger alone.
As we celebrate 15 years of impact, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey. But our work isn’t finished.
This Back-to-School season, children are counting on us once again. Together, we can make sure every backpack is filled, every child is nourished, and every student has the opportunity to start the school year ready to learn and succeed.
